Our Bestie Beginnings - But Can She Sew

Graduation Day - June 25, 1980

This day is remembered like it was yesterday. Of course, we made our graduation dresses! Sewing was one of our earliest connections as our new friendship blossomed in high school. It was a creative relief after the intensity of AP Calculus (Angella) and AP Chemistry (Leslie).

Showing off our fresh new Class of 80 shirts

Brooklyn Technical High School was a highly diverse salad of ethnicities, race, languages, and music; from all 5 boroughs; some first-generation immigrants from the Caribbean, others with hyphenated allegiances to Italy, Poland, China, and Greece; friendships between an Aphrodite & Sue Yin, Tony & Donovan, Jose & Dimitri were common.

So many good memories at Tech

There were almost 1100 in our graduating class and we continue to help bring our classmates together, sometimes in the hundreds, as Class Reunion Reps. Our FaceBook community is active and supportive, cheering on the accomplishments of each other’s children, encouraging sentiments when a tragedy hits or sending love as a parent hits a milestone birthday.

We loved our high school, still do. So much so that we traveled back to do our podcast photo shoot.
